The One Thing We Love Most About Seeing Everyone's Smiling Faces In Class Each Week, Is When We See People Perform Exercises Beyond What They Thought Their Body Was Capable Of.

This month we would like to shine the spotlight on one of our HQ clients, Christine Bykersma and everything that she has achieved since starting Pilates Classes with us.

Christine has been attending Pilates classes for about 1 year now, back when we were operating from a small home studio. She originally started Pilates as she wanted to find a form of exercise that was a little more gentle on her body.

In the twelve months that Christine has been coming to Pilates HQ, she has gone from attending beginner classes once a week, to now having the skill level to attend an intermediate class, when the time suits.

We had a chat to Christine recently to ask her a few questions about her Pilates Journey so far.

Why did you start Pilates?

I was looking for something that was more gentle on my body due to knee issues and to strengthen my core.

How long have you been doing pilates for?

I have been doing Pilates for about 1 Year now

What is your favourite thing about coming to classes at Pilates HQ?

I've enjoyed that every class has been different and challenging. The Instructors I have had have been great and know which exercises I can push myself that little bit further in and I love that. Every class is great fun too!

What has kept you interested in Pilates and why do you keep coming back to class each week?

I always feel great after a class and I enjoy each one, it's my 'me' time where I can switch off and concentrate on my body.

The Instructors are always correcting our positions and posture which is great attention to detail, whilst keeping a relaxed atmosphere at the same time. 

What improvements have you noticed since coming along to Pilates Classes regularly

I feel  I have strengthened overall, but more so my core. When I started I struggled with doing a bridge but now I feel a lot more steady and can hold myself a lot higher than I used to. I'm more aware of my posture now and having the instructors push me in class, I know I can improve further. My goal for this year is to hopefully increase my classes to two a week and to be more focused on incorporating my Pilates practice at home. 

Anything else you want to add About Your Pilates Journey So Far?  

Steph has created a beautiful, warm and inviting place for all levels of clients and makes each new client feel welcomed and comfortable. Steph and the Pilates HQ team are very knowledgeable and always have their clients safety in mind during class, which is so important.
